The SLA-NY Global Outreach Committee will have raffles at the annual meeting and holiday party. Proceeds will go to the Lubuto Project http://www.lubuto.org, a non-profit organization started by SLA-D.C. member, Jane Kinney Meyers, with the goal to build 100 libraries in Africa in the next 10 years for street children and children whose parents have died from illnesses.

Since the SLA-NY Global Outreach Committee was started in 2001 by members Lois Weinstein and Lilleth Newby, proceeds from raffles have provided gift certificates for library supplies, or monetary contributions to libraries in developing nations. If you have a raffle prize you would like to donate, such as books, or tickets you are unable to use, please contact committee chair Rita Ormsby, rita.ormsby@baruch.cuny.edu. If you would like to help with this committee, Rita will be happy to hear from you.
