It's been five years since SLA-NY has sponsored a program on outsourcing. For several information centers outsourcing/offshoring is no longer a "pilot program" but an established and in some cases transforming business practice. Several other major information centers have recently started or are about to start outsourcing, offshoring, or nearshoring programs.
How has outsourcing/offshoring changed their organization, their cost-base, their staffing strategies, and their management style? Have the benefits been worth the investment? What career opportunities have presented themselves in this environment and what should future professionals expect as they enter the field?
Please join us for a panel discussion of these and related issues. Panelists represent firms participating in outsourcing/offshoring and other experts who will discuss how Outsourcing has changed how they do business and what opportunities it presents for information professionals in the future.
More details including a full list of panel speakers to follow.
